Threat Modeling as Design Discipline

The presentation will emphasize that threat modeling should be approached as a design discipline rather than just a security checklist, using established visualization techniques like the C4 Model for architectural context and structure, and the STRIDE Framework for systematic threat identification (Spoofing, Tampering, Repudiation, Information disclosure, Denial of service, Elevation of privilege).

Proactive Security Approach

Key principles will include identifying threats before coding begins, discussing security implications early in design, mitigating risks through architectural decisions, and challenging architect assumptions systematically. The most significant security vulnerabilities often stem not from external threats alone, but from unchallenged assumptions made by architects during the design phase.
